#throwbackthursday Story behind this short performance:
A few years ago, back when Mezzo-soprano Samantha Ying-zing Chong 張吟晶 and I were still students at HKAPA, we heard this duet on Elina Garanca's CD and fell in love with it. But there's no published score to be found anywhere in Hong Kong, US or UK. Eventually, I found a scan of a 1854 hand-written score in Harvard University's online library, and Samantha's student transposed it for us. So here it is, the Hong Kong premiere of this little jewel "La speme un dolce palpito" from Donizetti's "L'assedio di Calais", recorded in August 2016 :)
